Like some of you I too fell in love with cars sometime in the mid-to-late 80's. One fond memory is from 1987. I was 6 years-old, sitting three-deep in the back of a '79 Cougar. Poison's Open Up and Say Ah was in the cassette deck while my late mom and aunt filled the car with Aquanet.
That car, much like its Lincoln counterpart at the time, was enormous. Especially to a 6 year-old child. The backseat was large enough for an entire battle between Army men and Transformers without ever disturbing the person to your right or left.
The car also had a very distinguishing, almost attractive, rear end. While the Cougar had a boxed shaped trunk-bump the Continental Mark V had a more curved piece of metal. It was beautiful.
This was the impetus for the 'shop above.
Maybe I'm crazy for thinking this but I can't help but feel like Lincoln missed an opportunity to bring back that protruding shaped trunk.
The more I look at this the more I think - it actually works.

It almost looks more like a spoiler than a tire bump.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's someone in he aftermarket who is working on a 'Continental Kit'... with basically a different shaped trunk.
Only it would have to say C-O-N-T-I-N-E-N-T-A-L around the arch...
And maybe have 'Lincoln' either in the middle or off to the side.
And Lincoln should ban dealers from sticking on their own goddamn cheesy advertising badges onto any Lincoln as was done by 'Pearson Ford' in the picture above.

Maybe straighten out the Lincoln script, and that doesn't look half bad. I've always liked the MkVII's version myself:

If Ford builds this, you better believe E&G Classics will have a fiberglass trunk lid with a tire hump on the market in months. They did do one for the '98+ Town Car, after all.

That is your nod to that rear spare tire, right there. Somebody was looking for it in another news.

I like it. I think it would work better with no lettering and perhaps a single Lincoln logo that would double as a trunklid key cover......
OR they could really go back to their roots; keep the lettering and bring the old school emblem back!

I preferred Cinderella.
Also, I may be the only one that does not have the hankering for the arch trunk again. If there is no spare tire under there, then let that go.

I would remove LINCOLN and replace it with a Lincoln logo of some sort. Smallish and elegant. It might work.

remember they are calling it a concept right now so there could still be changes to the styling such as this new trunk lid and different engine choices.

Yes. This is a distinctive Lincoln design cue. It's a nod to the past, but it fits with current design trends, and it doesn't seem like it would affect aerodynamics too badly. Opportunity missed.
Edit: I had that Poison album with the cover that was later banned. Remember that? I guess they thought the tongue was too long or something.

reimagined on this new model, it looks to be an elegant duck tail. I think it'd look sharp, from this angle at least.

True story about Poison:
In 2009, they played a show here in Madison. My gf at the time had some friends in Chicago who were genuine, unironic Poison fans, for some unknown reason. It made particularly little sense because these folks, like me, grew up in the 90s, where bashing 80s music was very much a thing. Like, everyone where I grew up in DC would talk neverending shit about any rock music with too much reverb on the snare drum. But these people grew up in Indiana, so that's probably why.
They came up to Madison to see a Poison concert, and I grudgingly tagged along. I tried to convince myself that I could attempt to enjoy the concert ironically. This didn't pan out so well, because Poison does not play good music.
After every single song, Bret Michaels would rant and rave about everyone needing to come to their "rock 'n roll VIP after party" at a shitty suburban music venue/townie bar that has since closed. Over and over again. Because there was a $25 cover charge and they wanted to get as many people to show up as possible.
I did not go to the rock 'n roll after party, but a few days later I saw a news article that said Bret Michaels showed up at this place, signed a couple girls' bras, did one Jaeger bomb, then left after maybe 15 total minutes. The fans were not pleased.
Moral of the story: if Bret Michaels ever tells you about a "rock 'n roll VIP after party" with $25 cover charge at a shitty suburban music venue, do not go.

haha I think the times I would have trusted Brett to hold my hat even have numbered somewhere close to zero. Funny ass story. I grew up in the 80's and early 90's, so I am actually a fan. So there is that though
